The year 2020 started with a bang wherein Canada continued to invite immigrants at a high score of 470+ CRS in January and February 2020. Days before Canada went into Lockdown, Minister Mendicino announced the arrival of 1 million immigrants by the year 2022.
Canada closed its border on March 18, 2020, for non-essential services and went in the lockdown due to the deadly Covid-19. Even during the pandemic, Canada continued to keep the immigration levels high by continuously inviting immigrants under the Provincial Nominee Program and Canadian Experience Class program. These two programs witnessed the downfall of CRS as low as 431 points, one of the lowest CRS in the last three years.
Canada has been consistent in issuing invitations to the express entry candidates through its various immigration programs despite the pandemic. Wherein it was believed, at the start of the pandemic, that the draws could be temporarily paused or there will be fewer invitations issued. The exact Opposite Occurred.
Again CANADA showed that it is very committed to welcoming more immigrants to support its economy. A survey in Canada revealed that many Canadians agreed, "Immigration is very much required for their economic growth" and "It makes the country better". Canada was the only country to announce Canada Emergency Response Benefits for its citizens, who received $2,000 for a 4 week period to help sustain through their difficult times in the pandemic.
In a recent announcement, Minister Marco Mendicino announced the immigration plans for the year 2021-2023. Between the months April – August 2020, Canada saw the lowest incoming of immigrants in the country due to the pandemic. However, it continued to hold Express Entry draws throughout the pandemic thus breaking its Express Entry Records for the Year 2020. Besides, Provincial Nominee programs also kept ongoing.
This year, Provincial Nominee programs played an important role in inviting a lot of immigrants, thus keeping the hopes alive of immigrants, with low CRS in the express entry pool. Last two draws of November 2020 saw the highest number of invitees since the inception of Express Entry, 2015. It has given hopes to many new immigrants looking forward to immigrating to Canada for their better prospects
Still, there is one month to go for the year to close and I am keeping my fingers crossed. Even after the pandemic, CANADA will continue to maintain the Quality of Life and the Promise of a Better Future.
HAPPY IMMIGRATING!
